Once Upon A Time

Dee Adams has been likened to some of history's most appreciated women in music - women like Bonnie Raitt, Edie Brickell, Indigo Girls, and Sheryl Crow. She writes and sings punchy, poetic, acoustically driven songs drenched in hooks and harmonies, with a warm, rich, and bluesy voice. Reviews have coined Dee’s style as “earthy”, “sweet to spunky”, and have said that she has “lyrics that speak to the heart and mind”.

Among Dee’s accolades and accomplishments is her appearance on the 2002 Songs Inspired By Literature compilation. Having been named Grand Prize Winner of the 2002 Songs Inspired by Literature songwriting contest, Dee’s song "Pennsylvania” can be found alongside tracks donated by David Bowie, Roseanne Cash, Steve Earle, and Tom Waits.

In February 2003, Sage Indie Music released a 6 song EP under the band name Dee Adams & The Roadtrippers, called Taking My Time. A lush, well produced set of songs punctuate the intention of Dee’s music – to keep some fun in the act of introspection and to continually explore the depths of vocal harmonies.

Dee moved to Buffalo NY in late 2004 and in a short 10 months of actively playing venues in town, was awarded the 2005 Buffalo Music Awards category of Best Original Acoustic Solo. In 2007, Dee was recognized for her vocal talents by winner 2nd place in Buffalo Spree's Best of Western New York for her work as a jazz singer.

2008 brought about the purchase of a home in Buffalo New York, and all the sweat and toil associated with 90 year old city houses, while 2009 unveiled a brief opportunity in producing live radio, worldwide travel, the writing of many new songs, all while continuing to perform original music as well as jazz standards.

2011 was rewarded with recognition as Best Solo Acoustic Performer in the annual Artvoice Awards, as well as Top Acoustic Solo Act in the Nightlife Magazine Buffalo Music Awards. 2012 will be a year of new albums, and hopefully a wider range of performance locations.  If there's a venue in your town you'd like to hear the music of Dee Adams, send a note via the Contact page.
